LOVE IS IN THE AIR: Treat gophers early to get a head start on the springtime population boom!
In sunny Southern California, gopher activity increases in January and February as populations begin to prepare for mating season beginning in March. Establishing a monitoring and management program during these months will help control gopher numbers throughout the year.
Don’t procrastinate! The less adult gophers around now, the less pups to deal with later!
- Monitor population size by looking for newly formed gopher mounds.
- Begin trapping and management programs within and around areas of high priority.
- Follow-up with routine monitoring inspections and re-evaluate your program.

Critter Busters was referred by the city of Seal Beach as their wildlife trapping company. When I talked to them, they actually picked up the phone, the secretary had a technician call me back within 10 minutes for my free over the estimate [...] Traps were [set up] the same day, we caught 3 raccoons the second night, and 1 raccoon the third night. The technician was knowledgeable and gave me an estimate for exclusion and sealed the entry points today. They are due to remove the traps tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to some decent sleep tonight. While I hope I won't have to use their services again, I would recommend them to anyone needing a raccoon removed from their property.
